Kapsch TrafficCom strengthens its involvement in Italy: Partnership with Busi Impianti and founding of the Kapsch-Busi joint venture

Kapsch TrafficCom AG and the Italian Busi Group are in collaboration since 15 May, 2008. The two companies are founding the company Kapsch-Busi with headquarters in Bologna as part of a joint venture. Busi Impianti is a family-owned company belonging to the Italian Busi Group and employees around 200 people. The core competences of Busi Impianti include the planning, installation and operation of a wide spectrum of industrial systems. Kapsch TrafficCom is an international provider of innovative traffic telematics systems, products and services. The new Kapsch-Busi company will initially focus on the Italian traffic telematics market, especially on projects in urban areas.

Both companies can point to many years of experience in their respective fields: Busi as a renowned company and Italian market leader in system construction with numerous installations in the area of ‘city access’, and Kapsch in the sector of traffic telematics and toll systems for motorways and urban areas. The joint company will bundle these core competences for activities on the Italian market. We see great potential in the area of traffic telematics solutions in the coming years. Furthermore Busi Group has the know-how and capacity for the integration of future systems”, explains Georg Kapsch, CEO, Kapsch TrafficCom.
Viktor Hatwagner, who also runs the Italian Kapsch subsidiary in Milan, is responsible for managing the company, together with Adriano Trambaiolli from Busi. Professor Paolo Rondo-Brovetto, as a member of the advisory board, supports the management team from Kapsch-Busi.

"We are Italy’s market leader in the sector access systems for regulated traffic zones, with about 20 successful installations”, says Pietro Caselli, Vice President of the Busi Group and explains further: “The commercial expertise and the customer base of Busi combined with the technical competence and international experience of Kapsch TrafficCom in the area of toll systems result in the ideal synergy to create the conditions to be successful on the Italian marke".

The new company „Kapsch-Busi S.p.A.“ starts its operation on 15.May 2008 and will have its seat in Bologna. Busi Impianti divests the respective business unit, including a group of about 10 employees and Kapsch TrafficCom will add employees to the team. In the course of a share capital increase planned in June, Kapsch TrafficCom shall acquire 67% of the joint venture.
 

BUSI Group has enjoyed 50 years of success, employees around 200 people and has seven branch offices in Italy, Russia and Brazil. Busi focuses on the installation and technical fitting of large systems for, among the others, directional centers, hospitals, industrial plants and commercial centers and in power station construction (worldwide activities) with it’s company Sadelmi SpA.
